Hi! I’m Carly

EMDRIA-Approved Consultant, therapist, EMDR hype-girl, and mentor.

I’m passionate about helping new EMDR therapists get over the initial jitters after Basic Training and stick with it so they can gain confidence in their EMDR skills and see how powerful it can be for their clients.

I’m also passionate about mentoring Consultants-in-Training to not only become exceptional EMDRIA Approved Consultants but also with growing their consultation business.

I want to bring awareness about EMDR to people that feels relatable so they are more likely to seek it out for themselves.

Through consultation, mentorship, and community, I support therapists (and future consultants!) in building a career — and a life that feels meaningful, sustainable, and aligned.

My Journey to Become an Approved Consultant

In 2019 I went to the EMDR Basic Training and knew during the training that I wanted to make EMDR my speciality.

I felt like EMDR was the tool I had been wanting so badly as a therapist to give me confidence like I was actually making real change for people.

My own Approved Consultant was also an IFS trainer, Katie Wine-Appleton, and I feel so lucky to have learned from her. She really introduced me to parts language and it flowed naturally into my own growth to become Certified in EMDR.

Now, I take all that knowledge into my own work as an Approved Consultant.

Integrating IFS and Creativity into EMDR

One thing that makes my consultation space a little different is how much I value parts work and creativity.

I have extensive training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), including trainings by Kendhal Hart, my own consultation with Katie (IFS & EMDR Consultant) and completing the IFS Circle through the IFS Institute.

I actively weave IFS into my EMDR therapy and consultation — helping therapists recognize and honor the different parts of themselves and their clients throughout the 8 phases.

I also love integrating art, creativity, and playful approaches into resourcing, treatment planning, and case conceptualization.

I believe that when we bring curiosity, creativity, and compassion into our work, EMDR becomes even more powerful — and consultation becomes a place where new ideas and deeper healing can unfold.

My Journey as a Business Owner

I didn’t learn how to run a business when I was getting my MSW.
Like most of us, I went to grad school to become a therapist, not an entrepreneur. But I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit.

I started my private practice in 2022 and grew to a small group practice pretty quickly.

I joined Kelly McKenna’s, Sit with Kelly,  very first mastermind, while I was growing my group practice and working toward EMDR certification. It’s also when I started my Instagram and joined her Reels membership — pushing through the cringe of posting videos of myself. (Still cringe sometimes… but also kind of fun.)

Later, I worked with Danielle Swimm, The Entrepreneurial Therapist, whose mastermind helped me expand beyond one-on-one therapy and build a business that aligned with my passion for consultation and connection. That experience gave me the clarity, confidence, and momentum I needed to move my consulting business to it’s own separate business - independent from my group practice.

I know how overwhelming it can feel to grow your skills, connect with others, and build a business that’s truly aligned. That’s why I care so deeply about supporting EMDR therapists and CITs with both the clinical tools and the entrepreneurial mindset to create a career that works for you.

A Little About Me

When I’m not consulting, you’ll probably find me in my cozy office with a coffee in hand, spending time with my daughter, or planning a spontaneous adventure to pitch to my husband.

I’m an Aries, ENFP, and Enneagram 7—which probably tells you a lot about my energy and zest for life. I’m a joy seeker who finds happiness in both the big adventures and the simple, everyday moments.

Living in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia, I love exploring nature, soaking up the outdoors, and reminding myself (and others) that joy is always close by. I deeply believe in blending hard work with joy, and in building a career that supports your life—not the other way around.
